Appearance
Clear, bright purple.
Nose
Strawberries, boysenberries, plums and a hint of vanilla.
Palate
Light bodied, with light but reasonably well-defined tannins and acidity. Bright, red fruit reflecting the aromas present on the nose. A hint of vanilla and a slight savoury oak character on the back palate. Fairly short but pleasant finish.
Overall
Like the others in Neito Senetiner's 'Benjamin' range, this is a lightly oaked, young and easy drinking style wine. It has plenty of bright red fruit on the nose and the palate, but (and intentionally, on the winemaker's part) lacks the depth and spiciness you might be accustomed to from a syrah. Pleasant, fruity - drink instead of a rosé on a summer afternoon.
