Appearance
Dull, slightly opaque violet red.
Nose
Rich, ripe black plums and raspberries. Hints of vanilla and liquorice.
Palate
Light to medium bodied, soft. Fruit-led with plums and raspberries. Gentle grape-skin spiciness and very faint powdery tannins. Mild but pleasant acid balance.
Overall
Carcassone is high-end Bodega Escorihuela's 'cheap' brand. Escorihuela in turn is owned by Argentine wine legend Nicolas Catena, so despite the AR$10 price tag the wine is drawing on a solid background of knowledge and resources. And it shows - it's a very pleasant, easy to drink everyday wine with nothing outstanding about it, other than price.
