Appearance
Dark, almost opaque violet-hued red.
Nose
Bright, fresh and rich with raspberries and red cherries developing to reveal berry preserves and hints of liquorice.
Palate
Medium-bodied, warm, and fruity. Cherries, plums and berries reflect the nose. Very subtle tertiary hints of liquorice and cocoa. Ample but soft, powdery tannins and fresh acidity.
Overall
The colour would lead you to expect slightly more concentration than this reserve Malbec from Lurton actually delivers. It's very fruit-led, showing little spiciness or other oak influence or complexity. Having said that, its freshness and simplicity would make it a good food match, and the price is reasonable.
