Fairly light-bodied. Soft and rich mouthfeel, with blackcurrant jams dominating candied fruit and caramel.
Overall
Soft, smooth, caramelised - a pleasant wine balanced for easy drinking. Judging by the characteristics and the age (not to mention price), I'd guess this has been aged in big old oak casks which have candied the fruit and softened the fruit tannins without adding any noticeable oak characters. From one of Mendoza's biggest and most traditional producers - and their 'Clasica' line at that - it's a very traditional Argentine style, similar to offerings from Lopez and Weinert, rather than the bright and fruity or elaborately complex wines of other bodegas. A solid choice off a restaurant menu.
