Clear, bright violet red with purple hues.
Nose
Spicy red fruit - plums and red currants - hints of vanilla and cinnamon.
Palate
Light to medium body. Plenty of red plums and red currants, matched with a fresh fruit acidity. Some complexities of tobacco, black pepper, and vanilla notes.
Overall
Nicely balanced for a younger, fresher wine. Plenty of fruit and sufficient interest from some oaking - the method is undisclosed by the bottle, but at this price and vintage probably staves. But so what - there are no off-notes or noticeable bitterness - on the contrary, this is a very drinkable, especially at this price: on its own or with a barbeque.
