Quara Malbec 2004
Deep, dark purple.
Plums, berries, spicy oak.
Full bodied with lush plums and blackberries, vanilla and cassis. Verging on jammy but just held in balance by the acid and light dry tannins. As the fruit recedes on the back palate, some black pepper spiciness and complexities of dried autumn leaves.
A whole lot of fruit for not much money. Avoids being cloying or jammy, but lacks the necessary structure to really control the fruit. As a result, it is possibly a little too jolly to drink in any quantity on its own - it really needs a good flavoursome meal to accompany. Try it with a casserole or paella. Great value in the fuller-bodied style.
